2009’s The Princess and the Frog gave us an incredible princess, an adventure through New Orleans, and a soundtrack we can’t get out of our heads. But it also gave us some valuable life lessons! Here are a few of our takeaways from this recent classic.
- Work hard, but don’t forget the fun.
Tiana and Naveen start out on opposite ends of the fun scale. Tiana works incredibly hard, barely giving herself any time to sleep, let alone enjoy the city she lives in. And Naveen is all about the party, with no interest in making any effort whatsoever. They each other to find balance. Work hard, but don’t forget to enjoy where you are and what you’ve accomplished!
- Dreams need a little push to come true.
Tiana sings it beautifully, “fairytales can come true…you gotta make it happen, it all depends on you.” It’s important to have dreams and believe, but your dreams won’t come true if you never do anything to push them along. The combination of working toward a dream and a little fairytale luck – that’s magic!
- Sometimes what you didn’t want is exactly what you need.
On the bayou and in the city, Tiana learns a valuable lesson: be open to change. She never sought after a prince or a party, and it turns out she and that very prince opened her dream restaurant, with a party every night. Life might surprise you with something you didn’t wish for, and it could turn out to be better than you ever imagined.
